Graham County Electric Cooperative is looking for a Groundman to support overhead and underground distribution construction, maintenance, and outage restoration. This is an outdoor, safety-sensitive position supporting line crews and building skills for progression.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Support line crews with overhead/underground construction, maintenance, and repair.
  • Prepare and restore job sites (load/haul materials, frame/set/backfill poles, dig holes, tamp anchors).
  • Assist with and operate equipment (digger/derrick and bucket trucks, backhoe, trencher, skid steer) per safety standards.
  • Set up traffic control and maintain public/crew safety around work zones and energized facilities.
  • Assist with rigging/hoisting for transformers and heavy equipment; use hand tools as needed.
  • Participate in training and emergency/outage restoration and on-call rotations (nights/weekends/holidays as needed).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, recognize hazards, and work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Basic computer/tablet skills for reporting and training.
  • Valid Arizona CDL required, or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Residency Requirement: Must live within 30 minutes (or 30 miles) of Graham County Electrics main office.
Additional Requirements: This position is a bargaining unit (union) position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and may be subject to additional drug and/or alcohol testing during employment, in accordance with applicable policies and requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Primarily outdoor work in varying weather (including extreme heat/cold, wind, precipitation).
  • Exposure to energized electrical equipment, moving machinery, noise, dust, and traffic hazards.
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, bending, and reaching; regular lifting up to 50 lbs (heavier with assistance).
